| There was a wedding going on the one evening we stayed at this hotel and the kids were totally out of control. Very loud very noisey. The hotel was good, we asked to be moved to a quiet floor and they gave a better location in the hotel. |

| We travel to Erie on the off-season a couple of times a year and usually stay at another location near this hotel. Our usual hotel was full so they recommended the Clarion.
The staff were uniformly pleasant and helpful. The indoor pool looked nice -- perhaps a bit small for they size of the hotel and number of rooms, but we prefer the beach anyway.
The room we stayed in was clean -- with the exception of the toilet, which clearly hadn't been cleaned between guests ... most likely an oversight. The room itself was a nice size and the beds and pillows were comfortable. Rooms do not have room safes The hallways were a bit dim and the carpets could use updating, but over all, a nice place with a great location and decent amenities. The breakfast buffet -- while cheap ($4 per person) -- was very basic and uninspiring. We chose to eat out. |

| Convenient &/or easy access to Presque Isle, Millcreek Mall, and downtown Erie. Staff in restaurant/bar are excellent. They make you want to come back. |

| My boys had a blast in their pool - the pool is a nice size and water is very warm. Couldn't keep them out of it. The hotel could use some updating and better cleaning in the corners of the rooms and bathrooms, but overall a nice place to stay. |

| Things we liked:
1) The price was very competitive at that time
2) It's only a few minutes from the lake.
Problems encountered:
1) The hallway in a non-smoking area reeked of cigarettes. Fortunately, we only had to pass through it a few times, but we chose non-smoking for a reason.
2) The hot tub next to the pool was so hot that it was painful to step into. (As if someone was secretly trying to make us into stew.) I don't know if it was broken, or if there was a setting somewhere that was set too high. The timer was off, so I'm not sure what it would have been.
3) The walls seems to be thin, as I could hear the next door neighbor coughing all evening.
4) The standard breakfast buffet (that other hotels provide for free) was $4. I wasn't concerned about the price too much, but the food selection was mediocre and average quality.
5) In general, the room was sort of sub-par. Television remote was broken, bed was uncomfortable, but everything else was just average.
I would like to point out that the hotel staff were friendly and courteous - I hope this does not reflect negatively on them, as there's only so much a person can do, given what they have to work with.
I would suggest that, if you are just getting the room to stay in while you're at the lake all day, it would probably be fine. But, if you're traveling during the off-season and need a place to relax after doing some business or what-have-you, it may be better to go somewhere else. (We were there for just an overnight stay for a mini vacation.) |

| This is a very nice hotel that was a grand hotel in it's day. it is an older property that has been well kept up. The facilities are excellent and this is a great place to take a family. They have a nice heated indoor pool and restaurant.
They do not have a complimentary breakfast bar but a full breakfast buffet is available for a nominal charge. We utilized this the last morning before we checked out and it was well worth the nominal cost. |
